(RED) CO-FOUNDER BONO INTERVIEWED ON CNN

As DATA released its second annual report monitoring the G8's progress in delivering its commitments to Africa by 2010, Dr. Sanjay Gupta interviewed Bono for CNN. Though DATA’s report notes that the world’s biggest industrial countries have contributed less than half the amount needed in 2004-2006 to reach the $50 billion they promised by 2010, Bono prefers to focus on the positives of Africa, such as the fact that the $25 million in (RED) money has sent to the Global Fund so far. With this (RED) money generated from sales of (PRODUCT) RED, the Global Fund is helping people affected by AIDS in Africa, such as by providing antiretroviral drugs for HIV patients. “That's the difference between life and death in Africa,” Bono said. Watch the full interview; read the accompanying CNN story, Bono: Industrial countries lag on Africa promises; and read the DATA Report 2007 for more information.
