Rwanda
In 2003, when the first Global Fund grant began in Rwanda, 5% of the population was HIV-positive. The rate is now down to 3% for adults amongst Rwanda's 9 million inhabitants. Children are particularly affected by the epidemic. There are 27,000 children living with HIV and 210,000 orphans as a result of HIV.
