Gap has always had a commitment to do the right thing and be a responsible brand pioneering positive change.
Gap has an ongoing commitment to sourcing & producing in Africa. Gap partnered with the ComMark Trust, Irish Aid and Edun to help launch the Apparel Lesotho Alliance to Fight HIV/AIDS (ALAFA), an innovative and comprehensive new initiative that seeks to bring workplace-based treatment to HIV-positive workers in Lesotho.
Gap (PRODUCT) RED made its debut in the UK in Spring 2006 with the iconic “INSPI(RED)” Gap t-shirt which was made in Africa from 100% African cotton and quickly became the best selling item of that year. Most recently Gap (PRODUCT) RED launched their Artist Edition T-Shirts, a collaboration that brings together talented artists to create a limited edition collection of t-shirts designed to eliminate AIDS in Africa. Gap has handpicked some of the best creative minds around including artist Geoff Mcfetridge, typographer Non-Format, artist Deanne Cheuk, illustrator Kari Moden, designer Steven Kelleher and illustrator Stina Perrson. Not only are these exclusive t-shirts designed by a remarkable group of artists, they give our consumers an opportunity to make a difference in the lives on people impacted by HIV and AIDS in Africa.
